The
art of pillow-lace is typical in Offida, a small town not far
from Ascoli Piceno, where the tradition of pillow-lace working
has been handed down from mother to daughter for centuries. Table-cloths,
blankets, bed-linen, handkerchiefs, all masterpieces of art used
daily. The pillow-lace making in Offida can be traced back to
ancient times. Some of the first designs were surely copied from
the ornaments on the portal of the church Santa Maria della Rocca
from the 14th century.
