Ponte di Porta Maggiore

It's the fourth bridge elevating in that spot on the river Castellano. It has three arches of remarkable depth, 52 metres high above water. The first time it was built in 1373 by the Ravvoltos from Ascoli in the course of 20 months for the amount of scudi 4.000. It was restored by the Counts of Carrara in 1418 and enlarged after Marco Massimi's plan in 1862. During last war, it was blown up by the Germans taking flight and then rebuilt.
